Sarah Margaux is a certified Yoga and meditation teacher who holds a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Sarah experienced her first Yoga class in 1995. However, it was Spring of 1996, during a month-long backpacking and rock climbing trip in Joshua Tree, California, when Yoga left a strong impression on her. Learning and practicing sun salutations in the early mornings with the rising sun, Sarah felt a connection to her body unique, in fact vastly different from any other activity. The following 10 years, Sarah explored different forms of Yoga, and practiced regularly to compliment her active outdoor lifestyle.
In 2006, her focus and commitment to Yoga shifted after being introduced to Ashtanga by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois during his last US tour. The week of practice with Guruji was the catalyst which began the transformation of her Yoga into an inward journey, a contemplative and spiritual practice. Shortly after meeting Sri K. Pattabhi Jois, Sarah found her first Ashtanga Yoga teacher, Tim Miller. For more than a decade, she has extensively studied Ashtanga Yoga in the US with Tim Miller, Richard Freeman, and Mary Taylor. In India, Sarah has practiced with Sharmila Desai, Saraswathi Jois, and Sharath Jois. Philosophy and chanting of Sanskrit texts with Dr. M.A. Jayashree and Professor Narasimhan in India has deepened her connection to the Krishnamacharya lineage of Yoga.
Additionally, Sarah studies and practices Tibetan Buddhist Mediation and Tibetan Buddhism. His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet is Sarah’s spiritual teacher. She travels to Dharamsala, India for audiences and teachings with HHDL.
Sarah began teaching Yoga and meditation in 2013. She enjoys sharing her personal experiences of these potent practices, and offers the merits of her practice for the benefit of all sentient beings.
